The nice people at Born05 reached out to us to develop the “face” of the PFZW Pension Fund. To make thinking about your pension a little more fun they came up with the idea to create a sympathetic and friendly environment in which people could start setting up their accounts. Since almost 100% of the target audience is female we came up with a female character that would guide them through the website. That’s how Fiona came to life!
Design
This meant we had to come up with a likable and relatable main character. We started with sketching out several different ideas which were presented to the creatives at Born05. Together we narrowed it down to a selection which was presented to PFZW. They were immediately enthusiastic about the designs so we took the step towards 3D. After the creation of Fiona she also got two friends called Peter and Zoë to diversify Fiona’s world.
Animation and stills
For the opening page we created a short film which explains what PFZW can do for you and your pension. Besides that we had to create a multitude of different loops and stills to make the website come to life. Together with the creatives at Born05 we came up with some ingenious ways of copying and pasting some of the animations to be able to reuse as much as possible and thereby ensure the website would still run smoothly.
